While I was out this evening, I got a text from a friend (who also happens to be a neighbor, a student in my Sunday School class and, of course, Al is her pastor)..."When will you be home?" she texted. I replied, "45 min.?" Her next text was, "I want to come see you in a little bit. Got to talk too."
Uh oh. The first thing that I think of when someone says that they have "got to talk" is that there is a problem. All sorts of things ran through my head...unless... Last night, her daughter asked a lot of questions concerning salvation on the way home from church...this could be a "good talk."
I cannot tell you how shocked I was when she and her children came into the kitchen with a load of groceries! "I have been blessed!" she exclaimed, "And God told me to do this!" Most every one of the items in the bags were things that I needed or use a great deal. How could she have known that creamer, whole kernel corn and eggs were all on my grocery list? How could she have known that I asked myself just today, "Don't I need black pepper?" She brought black pepper. How could she have known that hamburger patties are a "delicacy" for me...I am too cheap to buy them, and they sure are nice to have when I don't feel like being in the kitchen a long time. Sugar...I could use another bag, and she brought it.
You see, God was all over this and I KNOW that He told her to do this because of the items that she brought...there was no way that she could have known what I need or use a great deal of. She was obedient down to "what" it was that He had her to purchase. You absolutely cannot convince me that He was not in this...His fingerprints were all over it!
The groceries were certainly blessing, but I think that the greater blessing for me was knowing that my friend had experienced God and answered Him in obedience. The evidence of that was manifest to me in the items that she brought. It is amazing to see Him at work in a life, and I pray that she continues to grow in Him...
Be blessed in Jesus' Name,
Angie
