Jesus is the way...
This bridge reminded me of Jesus' blood and how it "bridged" the gap between us and God. The blood of Jesus made a way for us as sinners. The "winter" season reminds me of the fact that the foliage of trees and bushes has died, nothing is growing...that is the condition of a person that is lost in their sin...they have no life, or at least not the life that God intended for them. The snow reminds me of His robe of righteousness: that when we accept the "Way" (Jesus Christ as our LORD and Savior), our sins are washed in the flow of His precious blood and we wear His robe of righteousness. There is a song that goes...Whiter than snow, yes whiter than snow...Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
I am certain that the builder never planned on such a large kitchen...

Breath-taking views from Beech Mountain, North Carolina...visions God's glorious Creation

As I watched a cardinal yesterday, I was amazed at the way in which she was camoflaged by her colors. Almost unseen against a backdrop of fallen leaves on the ground that protected from predators, she enjoyed God's provision...a cracked pecan.

"Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, for gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Matthew 6:26

I am reminded of how we, as Christians, are "hidden in God with Christ", and that He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider.

The trees have surrendered their leaves now and winter weather will soon arrive. God has surely blessed us with our ability to see and know how great HE IS! It is almost incomprehensible how the fall colors of a few weeks ago in these same mountains have yielded to a cool blue tone in the atmosphere as winter approaches.

Aging Gracefully...

May my porch always be a welcome place.
May flowers bloom 'round my home with grace.
May I enjoy life at a slower pace
Until I see my Savior's face...

God watched over me, His lamp shone upon my head and by His light I walked through the darkness…Job 29:2-3

FIRE...
One afternoon, I took this picture from my front porch. I was captivated by the beauty of this sunset, but I was also reminded of some Scriptures like II Peter 3:7 and Isaiah 9:18-19...

"For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke. Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother."

Reflections and times of refreshing...

It has been a particularly warm winter, yet it was our desire to see snow one more time this winter...God obliged us. Jesus said, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24   Needless to say, it was absolutely beautiful, and I kept thinking of the hymn that goes..."Whiter than snow, yes whiter than snow. Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow." Thank You, Father for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, Who takes away the sins of the world...

No two sunsets have ever been the same...The incredible glory of God is displayed through "everyday creations" that are each extraordinarily unique. Thank You Father, for all things created and the ability that You gave us to enjoy them.

I don't like to hear people say that it's "nasty" weather when it is raining. Below is a closeup of how things can really look in that type of weather...pretty awesome!!!

Something about this photo made me think about Moses when he was on Mt Sinai

Psalm 9:1  I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your       marvelous works.

Psalm 42:1  As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.

Psalm 40:5  Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.

Psalm 8:3-4  When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?

The photograph above was taken from the back yard of my home. The photograph below was taken from the front porch of my home. Some of the most beautiful sunsets can be seen in the winter, and interestingly enough, they look so warm!

Early Flight
by AngelaUsher
Reaching heights, while still night
Before the day’s begun.
Climbing high against the sky
As we outrun the sun.
Clouds beneath us, clouds above us,
Tiny little towns.
Dots of light glow in the night
As we are gazing down.
The sun comes through, reaching into
The fading night before.
Soon daylight reflects it’s light
On clouds of Heaven’s floor.
Like an ocean, waves in motion,
An expanse where angels tread.
Sunlight streaks across cloud peaks
Sewn through with silky threads.
Brilliance glowing, God is showing
The glory of His light
Revealing lofts of beauty
Soaring high on wings of flight.

This is one of God's Masterpieces...a collage of nature that I will call
"Drifting From Season To Season"

I have been looking for this picture to share for a while now...and I suppose that it is the right time, because God had me to come upon it this evening. Doesn't this remind you of a Thomas Kincade painting??? I think of how popular his paintings are, and how they reveal such amazing beauty and peace that is nothing like we have ever seen before...or have we, and just been too busy to notice?

This is my prayer..."Father, open our eyes, both physically and spiritually, that we may observe the beauty of Your creation and Majesty, Your Glory and Power...that we may be refreshed in the body and spirit, gaining a new perspective in our lives and purpose. For this we thank You and give You praise...In Jesus' Name, Amen!"

The Apple Of His Eye

These pictures were taken at J&A Orchard, owned by Jim and Alice Land. The orchard is situated on top of a mountain in Taylorsville, North Carolina. For more pictures and information, go to http://www.jandaorchard.com/

"For the LORD's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye."  Deuteronomy 32: 9-10

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Snow is a rarity in the part of Georgia where we live. Every once in a while, we will get some snow, but hardly ever enough to enjoy making a snowman. We get excited about a few flakes!

Alayna and her first big snowman

A couple of years ago, we were blessed with about 3 inches of a heavy, wet snow. It was the first snow like this that my daughter had ever seen...she was about nine years old. We had so much fun building a snowman early that morning. After lunch, the snow had melted away, but our snowman lasted a couple of days because it was in a corner near the house where the sun did not shine on it very much. We really didn't "plan" to place it there...it was just one of those "God moments" where He stepped in and caused us to put it there so that Alayna could enjoy it for a couple of days. It reminds me of the song, "Jesus Loves The Little Children"...

That's how much He loves us...what matters to us, matters to Him. Oh, how He loves us!
Union Baptist Church

After building the snowman, we took a ride up to the church where my husband, Al, is  pastor. Union Baptist Church...isn't it beautiful! Something about this picture reminds me of Christ's robe of righteousness, His perfection that covers our sin so that we are made "sinless" in the eyes of God...whiter than snow...

Tiffany and Kaylee NeSmith

After leaving the church, we stopped at the NeSmith's and played in the snow with them...never realizing that the fellowship during these moments would actually build on a relationship that has brought Tiffany and I closer.

God calls us to "Go..." I am thankful we went that day...
