The Ties That Bind

It has been a long day. Our hearts are broken from the loss of my father-in-law...but God has given me a greater peace than I would have ever imagined. I pray the same peace for other family members as to each of them, his loss is significant.

There will be days ahead that are longer...and harder. But, the grace of God above all is stronger...

God gave me this poem a few years ago...it is still one of my favorites, so full of truth. I find it comforting...The Ties That Bind...  

When you left, our hearts were broken,

But the ties that bind remain.

God gave us love that lasts and lasts

Far longer than the pain.

Your memories are alive and well,

Like the love, they are not dead.

And many folks that knew you well

Often quote the things you said.

You shared your faith and lived your life

In an awe-inspiring way.

The lives you touched for Jesus

Still touch others’ lives today.

And so your life goes on and on;

Each day, we all have parts

Of the love and faith and ties

                                       That bind our spirits and our hearts.
