For what seemed like weeks, we went
through a “season” in our home. Every morning, it was the same story. Every
morning, I pushed my daughter to get ready. Every morning, my anxiety reached
epic proportions, and I would begin the path of my walk that day on the wrong
foot.
It would begin ten minutes after my
daughter got up… “Do you know what time it is?” I would call out to her. Then,
five minutes after that, I would convey in a little louder voice, “Time is
getting away from you!” And, four minutes after that, I would begin to get
nervous if she had not eaten her breakfast.
When there were only seven minutes left, I
would loudly call, “What are you doing!?” Seconds later, I would ask again in a
loud and desperate voice, “Do you know what time it is?” And then, I would
shout nervously, “He will be here in just a couple of minutes…please, please
hurry!” Then, as I heard the diesel engine of the bus, I would cry out, “The
bus is coming!” And finally, “He is here!”
This daily routine was wearing me down…I
literally hated to begin each day in that manner. It vexed my spirit. It
wearied my soul. Then, the Holy Spirit made a lesson of it.
As I sought the LORD on what to speak on the
next time I had the opportunity, the Holy Spirit said, “The bus is coming!” I
marveled at how God was using that situation for a spiritual message. I knew
that I had been well-equipped to deliver it with passion and intensity.
As I stood before the crowd, I exclaimed,
“The bus is coming!” Some looked bewildered. Next, I said, “We need to wake up
and get ready…the time is near. Jesus is coming.” Then, I explained how the
Holy Spirit had prepared me with the daily scenarios, with building anxiety,
because I realize that much of our “getting ready” is wasted on how we look,
instead of realizing the things that are basic and necessary to being
well-equipped for the coming day.
Desperately, I asked, “Do you know what
time it is? Do you realize that time is getting away from you? What are you
doing?” Then, I reminded the audience of our job, which is to tell others that,
“Jesus is coming soon…please, please, hurry! Receive Him! Get ready!” The
speech was ended with a passionate, “Jesus will be here soon! He is coming!”
It is time for examination of our lives
and preparation for the coming day. I
challenge you to read chapter 5 of I Thessalonians for some sound instruction
to follow as that day quickly approaches… for the day when we finally see, “He
is here!”
Be blessed, In Jesus' Name,
Angie
