Illusions of Fear and Illusive Hope

This is a sidewalk chalk picture…quite surreal isn’t it? Imagine walking along and coming up on something that “LOOKS” like this. It looks like something, but it is not. There is no reality to it except the dust of the chalk that has created this illusion. Continue to walk….walk through this thing that looks like you can’t…

Satan uses chalk dust to create fear in our lives. He sketches images in our thought life that invoke emotional responses…that is how he stops us from walking freely in what God has given us. We must continually remind ourselves that fear is just the opposite of faith, because it can “create” devastating effects in our lives.

“Now faith is the ‘SUBSTANCE’ of ‘THINGS’ hoped for, the ‘EVIDENCE’ of things ‘NOT SEEN’.”( Hebrews 11:1). Our faith in God and His promises causes us to pray, ask, seek and knock, because we have expectation of the manifestation of His power. As Christians, we have seen and understood creation and the power of His hand. We have testimonies that are evidence of the God in Whom we place our trust.

If we have evidence of the working of our faith, then we have to know and understand that we also have the ability to give power to things that work in the opposite fashion in our lives. For instance, we can allow something negative to “consume” or control our thoughts and emotions. Our minds and hearts can be so filled with fear that there is no room left for faith and positive images that keep us going. Fear paralyzes…just like the sidewalk image that would probably cause you to STOP.

If the devil can figure out what incites fear in you, and chalk images (even of things that you have not physically seen, held, smelled, tasted, or heard) in your mind, pictures of fear can create emotions within you that rob you of the truth and promises that God intended for you to walk in. This fear creates physical responses that can generate things that WERE NOT, but now ARE, such as blood pressure elevation, panic attacks, hormonal and chemical imbalances, and other physical manifestations that can create or feed that actual thing that you fear…do you believe that?

If you give place to fear, the illusions that you chase will cause hopeful thoughts to become illusive.

As Christians, we have to recognize doubts and fears. We have to refuse to give life to something that is not substantiated by solid proof. We have to recognize the wiles of the devil, and destroy his plans, tear up his blueprints for our failure and demise, and align our minds with the Spirit of God…the Holy Spirit Who lives in us!

Is your spirit in agreement with God’s will? Does your heart trust in God and His promises? If so, then you have the foundation on which to build strong faith, and that is what is needed to substantiate the things that you are hoping for…the manifestation of things that are God’s will for your life. Trust Him.

Things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report…anything praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8)…are able to keep your hearts and minds at peace while God is working. Do not fear, do not give up, keep  walking…God is able.
Be Blessed In Jesus' Name,
Angie
