Sometimes, God shows me things in a very different way. As I listened last night to a church in praise to our Lord Jesus Christ, I imagined the corporate sound of their voices rising toward the heavens. The heavens...a created universe with no known physical point of beginning or end...scientists keep discovering more and more. God created the heavens by simply speaking Words...a vast expanse of His glory that works in synchronization...such a marvellous mystery! HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is our Lord God Almighty!
As God's praise was lifted up, I was reminded of the Dr. Seuss story, "Horton Hears A Who." For those of you who may not be familiar...Horton, the elephant, discovers that an entire world exists on a tiny speck of dust when he hears the voice of one of it's inhabitants...a Who. During the story, no one believes Horton, and the very existence of the tiny world is threatened, but Horton does everything in his power to protect it. In the meantime, none of the Whos, save for the one Who, believes that there is a world beyond their own until disaster is imminent. In the end, they all lift their voices in unison and are finally heard by someone besides Horton.
I thought of how small and insignificant our world is compared to the expansive universe. Yet, God hears the cry of mankind, and even the heart of one man as he lifts his prayers, praise, and requests. And, WHO are we, that we might be so esteemed in the heart of an Almighty God, Creator, that He would sacrifice all for the sake of the salvation of mankind?
You see, there are many amazing parallels in this children's story to Biblical truths. Truths that tell us of a Savior's love, His provision and protection, the unbelief of many, and the desperate attempt to save even those who do not believe. Truths that tell us that we serve a mighty God Who seeks to save the lost and hears the cries of even one man.
Then, there are stories in the Bible of the cries of those who are in need, lifting their voices towards the heavens. Their voices are heard, and God manifests His hand of salvation. I am reminded of IIChronicles 7:14..."If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." Our country is in such peril from spiritual demise...and Who should be warning people, pleading with them to unite their voices to be heard...petitioning our God for His intervention!?! We should. Christians...that's Who.
I ponder on these things...I am in wonder at the Almighty God and His use of the creative genious of one man's imagination to share eternal truths and promises of Biblical proportions...amazing.
Be Blessed In Jesus' Name...
Angie
