Practicing The Presence of God

Sorry that it has been a while since I posted...almost a week! It is not that I have nothing to write. In fact, if I had time, I would sit and write so much that I may have to buy me a queen size office chair...well, this is one...so maybe a bench. lol!
God fills my heart with so much that I would love to share, but this is a busy "season" in my life, and maybe He is letting me know that what He ministers to me is just for me...
Here is another older one that was written years ago...I blew the dust off of it and decided to post it. When I get around to it, I will complete a couple of blogs that I have started.

Practicing The Presence of God
Today, as I was stopped at a traffic light, I noticed a corrections officer who was watching about five prisoners. As they raked leaves on the prison grounds, a person approached the corrections officer, who turned to speak to her. As I watched, one by one, the prisoners stopped, dropped their rakes, leaned against trees, or began to converse. That is when God spoke to me.
It became so clear to me that many times, we live our lives as if no one is watching. You can believe .that God is always looking, but because He is not visible to us, we don’t always think about His presence.
I began to think of how those prisoners would hastily begin to rake as soon as the officer began to watch them again. What will Christ find us doing when He returns? Are we working as if He is watching? Does our behavior reflect an effort to please Him?
As Christians, we need to come into His Presence enough (by seeking Him...that is reading His Word, prayer, seeking to worship and fellowship with other believers, etc) to be given unto living a life that is pleasing to Him. I believe that a large part of practicing the Presence of God is seeking Him, for when we are seeking Him, we are most aware of His Presence.
Suddenly, we find ourselves thinking "God thoughts", doing His will, and running on automatic...it is not labor or a burden to work in His Presence, for He is our strength. It is not difficult to speak of His Presence, for He gives us words to speak. It is not difficult to live in His Presence, because He  gives life...He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
We don't have to go out of our way to please God. All that He desires is our presence...and that is practicing His Presence.

Be Blessed, In Jesus' Name,
      Angie
