This poem that I wrote came from a hurting heart. As they say, "I'm just sayin'"... I was calling it how I saw it...from the perspective of pain. However, it ministers to my spirit in a different way now, to help understand how we all act at times. We live in a society that promotes greed and selfishness. Christians do not intentionally behave in a self-centered manner, but as humans, we certainly are capable of such behavior.
Then, I think of God on the receiving end of this poem... Is it possible that we behave like this towards our Father, God? I say, "YES." Not intentionally, of course, but we become caught up in ourselves, our families, our work, our world, and our focus can become removed from God...
What is so amazing is this... God is not an accuser...I believe that He is grieved by the distance and material things that we place between ourselves and Him, but He sees His children through the eyes of Jesus, and allows His Holy Spirit to begin revealing the truth through conviction. Revelation and repentance brings restoration of relationship and a regaining of focus on God's planned purpose for our lives.
As you read this poem, you may be able to identify with "Me," or you may have experienced the pain that such an attitude brings... In either case, rely on the Love of Jesus and His forgiveness to transform and heal you.
The World of Me
The world of me is interesting,
preoccupied, and filled
with what I like, I have and want
and all I have self-willed.
No time for you unless I need
a sympathetic ear
or something I cannot obtain
without someone so dear.
I’ll call or write an email when I’ve
nothing else to do.
You should really understand life is
not always about YOU.
Remember, feel quite free to call
if there’s some emergency.
Otherwise, I’m busy, now.
Please don’t bother me.
Don’t think I’m being selfish
and do not want to share.
I just have my own life
And I have no time to spare.
Be blessed in Jesus' Name,
Angie
