We live in a time in which most of Bible Prophesy has been fulfilled. We see sin, sorrow, and travail increasing in the earth, and fulfillment of the Scriptures that are descriptive of today...
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are beginning of sorrows. Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My Name’s sake; And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And iniquity shall abound, and love of many shall wax cold.” (Matthew 24:7-12)
Many consider these signs to be “perils”, and Christians understand that these will continue to increase before the return of Jesus Christ. Other great signs of “the end times” are mentioned in God’s Word, and although we do not know the day or the hour of Christ’s return, these signs assure us of one truth…He IS coming soon. “Perils” are not these signs, but the desperate spiritual condition of this age.
Last night, as I read some deeper, detailed research concerning Bible Prophecy, I was struck with fear in my heart. Why? Until now, I have not been fearful of end times or Christ’s return…as a Christian, I stand on the Word of His promise, l am comforted, and have joy in His strength. The “perils” of this age are not for a Christian to fear, but are signs of encouragement and a call to prepare for His return!
However, the more I read, I felt sad, even sick. Why? Examining my heart, I discovered that the fear that I had was not for me, but for those I love and countless others who may not be saved. For those who are not assured of their salvation and do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, these are “perilous” times. Their very eternity hangs in the balance. Can you imagine leaving loved ones… your parents, children, grandchildren, other relatives, friends and neighbors…with no hope? Can you imagine leaving them, knowing that they face the horrors to come, as well as hell’s eternal agony and separation…never again to be loved, or experience the love of God?
If you knew that you only had a short time to live, you would want to be sure that your loved ones were secure. It should be no different in the spiritual sense. In fact, it should be a priority, because life is fragile, and we are not promised another day.
It is estimated that 7 out of 10 people in the state of Georgia (USA) are lost. Over 7 million people in the state of Georgia do not know Jesus Christ! Who are they? Are they your family members, friends, or neighbors? Considering those startling statistics, I would answer, “Yes, yes, yes.” Chances are, someone that you love is unsaved.
I have often heard Christians say, “Come, LORD Jesus, Come!” They may be ready, but have they considered the lost souls of loved ones and the desperate spiritual condition of the world? Pray for God soften hearts to receive the plan of salvation, and to open doors of opportunity for Christians everywhere to be a witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Strive to be an instrument of God, to proclaim the Good News of salvation, and to see His will be done… “that every one which seeth the Son (Jesus), and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life”. (John 6:40)
Be Blessed In Jesus' Name,
Angie
