The more I grow in Christ, I have a deeper understanding of how things REALLY are. It is difficult to wrap your mind around the thought that we are spirit-beings and that this body is simply a shell, the manifestation and expression of His creation...but that physical characteristics and personality traits that are particular to each individual may be utilized for kingdom purpose. In light of that statement, and reflecting on the blessings of God-given gifts and talents, I must say that not one of us maximize the potential that God purposed and intended for us.
There is a colloquialism that people use in describing
others who think highly of themselves...it is “all that”. (For example, “She
thinks that she is all that.”) Whenever I reflect
on the intricate details of God’s creation of humanity, I know that He created
each of us to be “all that” in the sum total of the physical and spiritual
sense of those words. But because of the fall of man and our sin nature, the
only man that was ever known to embody and define the fullness of that
expression is Jesus Christ. He was and is “ALL THAT”.
As a human being, I realize that my spiritual existence is essential to my physical existence…after all, there is no life aside from the spirit within us. It is important to maintain our physical bodies and purpose to seek life and health, but when we look past the “vapor” of our lives, we can see that we, our physical bodies, are not “all that”, and will one day be “all that was”. Our bodies will cease to be and no longer exist. The spirit within us will be all that remains.

I don’t want to center my life around being “all that” in
the physical sense of the word. I am
not my body, and it is not and will never be “all that”. However, I realize
that as a spiritual being and a
Christian, I want to embrace “all that” and to be all about that…God’s purpose for my life. I want people to see Jesus in
me…because HE is “ALL THAT”! In a recent conversation with a sister in
Christ, I expressed that concept. Pointing to my body, I said, “I’m not all
this!” Then, I pointed upward and said, “But I want to be “ALL THAT”!
Let us all strive to be all that God has purposed us to be
in His kingdom. Let us desire all that He has for us and to operate in a
fullness of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Let us live for Him, looking to the
day that we shall be “like Him”.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be; but we know that when He shall appear we shall be like
Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in him,
purifleth himself even as He is pure.” (I John 3:2-3)
Be blessed, in Jesus’ Name,
Angie
