What do we believe about God's power?
Have you ever thought about the fact that the same power that created this world, saved us from our sin and raised Jesus from the grave are all one in the same. The same He gave to His Son, and Jesus told His disciples, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth". (Matthew 28:18) We know also that Jesus endued power and authority upon His disciples saying, "Behold, give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)
Through Jesus and in Jesus' Name, a Christian is empowered to carry out the will of God for His glory and His Kingdom purposes. Do we have enough faith? Jesus said, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark 16:17-18) Perhaps because we have not seen, we do not believe. Perhaps our faith has failed us...
Do we have a heart of forgiveness? Jesus also said, "Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any; that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." (Mark 11:24-26) Perhaps we have believed, but do not have "clean hands and a pure heart". (Psalm 24:4) Perhaps we have unforgiveness and our hearts have failed us...
Jesus also said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." (John 14:12-14) Have you ever known a father that would not do anything that was within reason and within his power for his children? How much more so will our heavenly Father!
"Have faith in God!" Jesus said, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith;" (Mark 11:23) Does this mean that we can command illness to leave our bodies? fear to leave our hearts? for the impossible to become reality? Jesus said, "...with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26)
Why is it so easy for us to find it important to adhere to the Ten Commandments, yet become skeptical where God's power is concerned? How is it that we can believe one part of the Bible and not other parts? If we do not doubt the Scriptures, and we have no unforgiveness in our hearts, then surely we should be experiencing the power of God in our lives.
I do not doubt that when we can lay hold to this concept and truly believe in the power of God and His will for our lives in the earth, that the Church will experience revival. We have been blinded by traditions and fear...and there is no faith where there is fear. The Church has become powerless and has no "power over the enemy"...languishing in half-hearted services..."Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." (2Timothy3:7)
Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:31-32) The Church is set to know the truth and become free to operate in the power of the Holy Spirit...to rise up and take its place...if we only believe.
Be blessed in Jesus' Name,
Angie
