As I was grocery shopping this week, I passed a cooler in the floral department of the grocery store and noticed a pretty mixed bouquet of flowers. Winter is near and I thought how much they looked like the newness of spring. It is funny that I never really look at the flowers in the refrigerated case, but that particular evening, the bouquet caught my eye.
“Some guy will see that bouquet and surprise his wife,” I
thought to myself. They were very reasonably priced, and just seemed to say, “I’m
sorry” or “You’re special”.
Today, a minister friend came to my house for a meeting.
You cannot imagine my surprise when she said, “I brought something for you”,
and handed me a bouquet of flowers just like the bouquet that I had seen a
couple of days ago.
Tonight, as I admired the bouquet that I placed in a
vintage coffee jar, I thought of what cheer these flowers bring into our home…a
splash of fresh color and life that reminds me of spring in the winter. It is
like a promise of things to come.
It is certainly no coincidence that these same flowers
caught my eye just a few days ago. I consider it a prophetic whisper from God…something
that He showed to me, then (He) gave to me. It reminds me think of how (we) the
bride of Christ, are in His thoughts and showered with His affection, despite
our shortcomings. His unconditional love is unwavering, unending and never-failing…and
when we least expect it, God surprises us with a “You’re special” moment…
Be blessed in Jesus’ Name,
Angie
