Has God ever told you to do something that you do not do well? The answer should be "yes," because it is an opportunity to see His miraculous work. Several times, He has asked me to do something that was seemingly impossible, difficult, or something that I did not want to do.
Yesterday, God told me to make biscuits. You see, I don't make biscuits well, so I don't even try. I think that I may be able to safely say that you could count on your hands the number of times that I have made homemade biscuits in the past 13 years that Al and I have been married. But yesterday, God told me to make biscuits to send with my husband for a church member that he was going to visit.
Hesitantly, I obeyed. The dough was so silky soft that I was amazed. I gently formed the biscuits one by one and placed them on the baking sheet. Minutes passed, and they were not turning golden brown, (yeah, I DID put them in the oven! lol!) and it was almost time for Al to leave. I took them out and broke one...they were done, but not brown. Ok, so I would have to send "blonde" biscuits.
Al came in the kitchen, and I handed him a jar of preserves that I had made. "Wait a minute and I will wrap up some of these biscuits," I said. Al had a questionable look on his face. "You don't take people biscuits," he said. "Besides, they will be cold by the time I get there."
They weren't that great-looking and were not the best I had ever tasted, so I did not argue with him, but I was disappointed. I guess I should have told him God wanted me to make biscuits...I guess I assumed he knew it had to be a God moment, because I just don't make biscuits. He left with the preserves (Apple-achia on the Food page). I cleaned up the kitchen.
A couple of hours later, Al returned. He said that the person was grateful for the preserves, but then said, "I don't have any biscuits." (o: Ok, I have to smile, because I just KNEW God told me to make those biscuits! Silly as it seemed to me, being as I am not a good biscuit-maker...I knew God had put that in my heart! It was an affirmation...what a blessing that God had asked me,(who does not make good biscuits)to make biscuits for Him!
God put someone in my life about a year ago that is a wonderful cook, seamstress and business woman...who has a "fool-proof" biscuit recipe for me.( I will share that on Fabulous Food!) Next time, they will be fabulous biscuits, because He is sending me a recipe!
We will have to go back and visit the gentleman WITH some biscuits! Obviously, God has a planned purpose for the next trip...so I will let you know how that goes. Until then, I am...
Blessed, In Jesus' Name.
May you also receive His rich blessings,
Angie
