We should celebrate our freedom daily...Unfortunately, we rarely think of our freedom as citizens of this great country outside of Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. Honestly, we are so busy and we take so much for granted.
What about our spiritual freedom? Our freedom to worship, our freedom to share our faith, our freedom in Christ...how often do we find ourselves celebrating these and taking advantage of opportunities that we have to be obedient to the Great Commission.
How many of us have been so busy today that we have not even had thought of these things, much less taken a moment to express our thanks to God for these things?
It doesn't take but a few seconds to say, "Thank You"...
I believe that graciousness and gratitude are two things that please the heart of God...and therein we find our blessings. If you help someone, and they are truly grateful, aren't you more willing to help them again than if they had not been thankful at all? Thank God for His graces, because we certainly do not express our gratitude enough.
Here is a poem that God gave me a few years ago on Independence Day...
A PRAYER OF THANKS FOR FREEDOM
Dear Lord, We come to honor You
For what we have today,
The freedom to commune with You
At work, at school, at play.
We praise You as we gather
To worship, pray and sing.
We give thanks for grace and mercy
And salvation Jesus brings.
You sent Your Son to set us free,
And upon that rugged Cross,
We gained freedom from our sins
As You took the greatest loss.
But Jesus conquered sin and death,
Then He rose for us to see
That those who will believe in Him
Also have the victory.
Lord, we thank You for the brave who fought
For the democratic way
And for the soldiers who still fight
And for the price they pay.
We pray continued blessings
Upon this vast, great land.
Lord, continue to protect us
By the might of Your Great Hand.
Be Blessed in Jesus' Name,
Angie
